Summer 2010, we visited Oregon the second time during our RV travel. Here, we have good friends Bruce and Ilah Christensen who we met in Yuma AZ. Bruce & Padraic have been learning stock trading together since May this year. Bruce has a home in Coos Bay and thus the long visit in the area. We've had many great dinners together, Ilah is such a good cook. The area has the most wonderful temperature at 60s F as a high and 50s F at a low.

We attended the Roving Rod Crab Fest Rally at end of September. We caught 60+ Dungeness crabs on the docks and using boats from friends. There were 29 rigs in the party. We parked at the usual site which is backing into the water edge. Cost is $18 a day without utilities. Closeby, we have water, sewer dump facilities. Father and Maria came to visit and they got to taste fresh crabs every day during their one week stay. We moved back to Coos bay after the rally.

Padraic & his sister explored the John Dellenback Trail which leads to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The sand is incredible and it looks like the Middle East, except this one is surrounded by forest and the Pacific ocean. We hiked over 2 hours and walking was a little difficult in the soft sand. Padraic & Willie revisited the dune a week later and covered a different direction of the dune entrance.

Oregon coastal highway US 101 hugs the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful drive up north, it is what we took to Seaside Resort in a town called Seaside. There are many beaches and expensive vacation homes along the road. At the coastline, small rocky islands stand out from the ocean with only 100s of yards away to the shore. The coast has unpredictable weather, a lot of moisture and fog. Daytime temperature was in the 60s.

Coastal park at Empire River by Coos Bay area. Friend Bruce took Padraic to tour the park where he and his wife Ilah went when they were young many years ago. There are thousands of seals habitating in the nearby islands. As usual, the coast is cool and windy. The waves pounding the shore give my friend a headache; but it sounds like music to Padraic who came from Texas.

Inner water at Coos Bay, Oregon. The city is a peninsula which has water framing the city from west to east. It was a thriving town before World War II from old grow forest and salmon harvesting. Now both of the natural resources are depleted. The town's population fell and new retired folks moved in and tourists come here for fishing and crabbing.

ood friends Bruce & Ilah invited Padraic & Willie to their Seaside Condo up in a town called Seaside OR. for a week. It was great fun, swimming, beach walking and doing tourist stuff. The condo has a nice swimming pool and hot tub which we visited every day. We played ping-pong and other games. The beach is right by the building and here is where Lewis & Clark Expedition ended. Ilah and Padraic cooked many great meals together. Bruce & Ilah's brother and sister were there. We had a great time.
